Bonjour!

Seeing the Eiffel Tower for the very first time!

Welcome to the beautiful city of Paris!

When we arrived to Paris, my first impression was of the three soldiers strolling through the airport with gigantic guns drawn out. As we drove to the hotel that we were staying in, it was cool to see some parts of the city. After settling into our hotel room (the beds were like enormous pillows), I went out to see the city with a few friends. We went down the street and there were a bunch of restaurants! The cool part about this street was that there were a variety of ethnic restaurants to choose from. I ended up eating some Asian cuisine on a bench with my friends planning out our next destination in Paris.

As we were heading to the Metro to buy some tickets I noticed that it was so clean! My favorite memory of the evening was walking through the streets of Paris and turning the corner and seeing the Eiffel Tower for the very first time. At that moment, it was sparkling and the view was breathtaking. As we walked closer to the Eiffel Tower, we took pictures and videos of the impeccable structure.

The following day started with a phenomenal breakfast, then a bus tour of the city.  There were so many street artists that had drawings and paintings of the Eiffel Tower and I bought one to hang in my bedroom at home. I didn’t expect to do as much walking in one weekend in Paris! We also visited Notre Dame Cathedral, The Louvre to see the Mona Lisa and the lock bridge (no longer exists, here is an article about it).

My favorite part of the day was talking a tour up to the Eiffel Tower and having an incredible view of the city at night. While we were at the top of the Eiffel Tower, it began to sparkle and it seemed too magical!

The next day, my friends and I took a train to go visit the Palace of Versailles. We waited in line for hours because there were so many people and tour groups! However, the wait was worth it because it was remarkable to see the inside of a palace that is full of French history. As I walked through the hallways, I imagined the palace hundreds of years ago when royals used to roam through the hallways.

Overall, visiting Paris was an exciting trip! If I were to recommend some things to do in Paris they would be:
1.     See the Eifel Tower and share a bottle of Champagne with friends.
3.     Eat a crepe filled with strawberries and cream cheese in front of the Eiffel Tower

4.     Visit the Louvre

Until next time,
Devon

  1. Back in high school, I went to France as a school trip. One thing that I will never forget is my visit to Notre Dame Cathedral. We got to go inside during an Easter Sunday Mass. It was amazing seeing all of the people praying. It was also gorgeous inside!!
